PEPEHA

Kia wehi ki te Atua
Whakahonere a Ngā Wai Hono i te Po
Me te whare Ariki katoa.
Tena koutou.
Ka tangi atu ki nga tupuna e kore
E taia te ingoa tia, e moe mai
Nei i roto i tenei whenua.

Me nga whakatauki o ratau.
Ko Tainui te waka
Ko Waikato te awa
Ko Taupiri te maunga
Ko te Whero Whero te tangata.
Whakaheke ki Tainui whanui
Ko Raukawa tena
Ko Maniapoto tenei
Ko Tuwharetoa tera.

Me nga kawai hekenga tangata
A nga tupuna e moe mai nei.
Moe mai koutou i o koutou pae maunga
Ko Tuhua ko Hikurangi
Ko Piaua me Taringamotu e rere nei i waenganui
Nga pakakainga hoki
Me o koutou taonga i waiho ngia.
Ko Tuhua te maunga
Ko Piaua te awa
Ngati Hari te hapu.

Greetings to God author of all things,
Honour Kuini Ngā Wai Hono i te Po,
The royal household, all of Tainui.

Greetings to the many ancestors
Who lie buried within these grounds.

We also remember their proverbs.
Tainui the canoe
Waikato the river
Taupiri the mountain
Te Whero Whero the man.
And the sub-tribes of Tainui
There is Raukawa
This is Maniapoto
By the side is Tuwharetoa.

And the lines of genealogy that joins
The ancestors who rest within these lands.
Rest in peace ancestors within the threshold of your mountains
Tuhua and Hikurangi
Running between are the waters of Piaua and Taringamotu
The homes,
And the treasures that are left behind.
Tuhua is the mountain
Piaua is the stream and Taringamotu is the river

Ngati Hari is the subtribe of Maniapoto.
